Windows 7
Having had a late night re-installing Windows XP on my colleagues computer, I went home rather happy that i had done a good job. To be honest I think what made it enjoyable is the fact that she had all her original Install disks. This is something all PC/Laptop owners should have and never throw them away. Otherwise, one could spend over a week trying to order the build disks from the supplier.
I shall soon be looking for a new Laptop. Mine has been given up for dead which is very painful.
At work i enjoy Windows 7 Release Candidate. It is pretty robust and i haven't had many needs for restarting due to a crash. My only issues have been:
1, Connecting via RDP to a server and then hopping on to Terminal Service Manager and viewing others Desktop session. It tends to kick me straight off. Admittedly i haven't investigated as i am too lazy.
2, Kasperky Antivirus doesn't seem to want to work too well (Corporate Edition) This is a big issue that i have only just come to realise and will need to sort out if i am going to purchase Windows 7.
3, The XP emulation is a big pile of arse. Why include it? i see it pointless. If technology is to evolve then XP is to become obsolete. It's 9 years old for christs sake!
4, It has crashed twice on me. Mind you, i do run MSSQL server, multiple RDP sessions, Winamp, and multiple tabs of IE8 (which aint half as bad as you'd expect. Let's put it this way, I haven't yet installed Mozilla's Firefox) and i only have 1Gig of RAM.
